Optimising your website for Google

In order to gain good rankings in the search engines, you first need to optimise your website for Google. Google is the largest search engine, and if you follow best practice techniques in optimising for Google, rankings for other search engines such as MSN and Yahoo will come automatically.

Getting Indexed

The process starts with getting your website indexed in Google. Make sure there are no technial barriers on your website that will prevent the Google spider (affectionately named "googlebot") from visiting your entire website. This means clean looking URLs, structured navigation and tidy HTML code. This site has many articles covering these topics.

Optimise Keywords for Google

When you perform a search in Google, you will notice some words are bolded. These are your search phrase or variations of your phrase. The variations are important - you can use the variations to give your page a little variety.
